• Over on The CW, one third of viewers who watched last week’s premiere of “90210” were gone, as the redux took a big plunge from 4.9 to only 3.3 million viewers, with a very modest 1.7 rating among adults 18-49.

• by “stock characters” I hope you really mean classic characters. Yeah these characters are tropes that ever show use but they use them because they work and are good foils to each other. Did you complain about the same characters on the original 90210? Or on the Original Degrassi? What about Happy Days? Even My So Called Life had these basic character types. The power of these shows is not the archetypes you use but how you write the dialog and plot the story. You ever hear about the problem with writing food reviews? How many way can you review a restaurant. It’s all been done and so the art of writing food reviews is in the style not the content.  If you really want to complain you can whine about how there are only 3 kinds of stories. Person vs Person, Person vs Environment and Person vs Society.
