Persons Of Interest Identified In Toronto OVO Fest After-Party Shooting

Authorities said one man and one woman in their 20s were fatally shot at the after-party for OVO Fest, which was headlined by Drake. Three others also suffered injuries.

Gunfire erupted at a Toronto nightclub early Tuesday, killing two people and wounding three others, the Toronto Police Department confirmed to BuzzFeed News.

Police received a call around 3:20 a.m. local time Tuesday about a shooting on the patio of Muzik nightclub, the location of the official OVO Fest after-party that was hosted by Toronto-based rapper Drake, according to Muzik's Facebook page.

During a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Toronto Police Special Investigator Peter Moreira said the male shooting victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene, was found inside the Muzik nightclub.

The female victim was not found on club premises, but further away near Dufferin Gates.

Authorities have not confirmed that she was killed in connection with the shooting at Muzik, but Moreira said that the close proximity, time, and location of the two shootings "leads one to believe" they were part of the same incident.

That female victim later died in hospital.

Conditions of the three injured victims ranged from mild to severe, Moreira said. At the time of the news conference, one had been released from the hospital.

Moreira also provided details about two persons of interest. He said one being sought is a black male who appears to be 25 or 26 years old, who was last seen wearing a "light purple crew neck sweater." He looks about 6 feet tall, Moreira.

The other is a male described by Moreira as "brown," whose age ranged from 24-28 years old. He was last seen in a "yellow burgundy, plaid, button-up shirt," and looked about 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Approximately 4,000 people were at the after-party.

Authorities still to do not know whether Drake was at the club at the time of the incident or what motivated the shooting.

This is not the first time Muzik nightclub has been the site of gun violence. The Toronto Star reported that it was the third time in the past two years that shootings had taken place at the venue.
