The guy in the second picture is crocheting, which is not the same thing as knitting. The caption from the original source clearly states he is crocheting.

You ARE a part of a culture like that.  

No, no, no, no. The military should focus on sexual harassment and sexual assault against service members, no matter which gender the victim or the perpetrator, IN ADDITION TO, maintaining strict guidelines in ALL conduct including sexual conduct.  Military standards are higher than civilian standards and must remain so. Why? Because otherwise people die. You can;t stand around wondering whether your CO has sent you to a forward position because you’re banging his wife or if that guy talking to your girlfriend is going to have your back next time you go out on a mission. These rules protect soldiers.

Dear Mr. Rushfield,  As a female in American I would like to say one thing.  Take you condescending, insecurities and shove them up your ass.  It is unfortunate that you feel very intelligent, knowledgeable people are ruining your enjoyment of otherwise largely mindless forms of entertainment but the solution to that dilemma is for you to educate yourself.  The following paragraph is deeply sexist.  “One instant effect of this uprising has to make our always male-skewing cultural landscape even that much more antagonistic to women. Conducting cultural dialogue as a brutal death match, in which numbers are wielded like broadswords, may be satisfying to some, but a glance at any blog’s comments section shows that those drawn to that sort of discussion will be disproportionately discontented, socially awkward males.” First, correlation is not causation.  Second, those of us who know one tiny thing about statistics understand that the comments section of is not an acceptable basis for a statistical model.  Third, your assertion that women are driven away from discussion by the Biggest Smartypants at the Table contest is laughable. We’re not running from that contest, Mr. Rushfield. We’re winning it.

It’s sweet that the headline states that we have universal suffrage. We don’t. Tens of thousands of Americans have had their voting rights take from them with no hope of earning them back, because they are convicted felons. In Florida, for example, 23% of the African American population alone is disenfranchised. Even after these people pay their debt to society, many of them are prevented from voting.
