Over the past few years, there has been a huge debate surrounding unpaid internships.

In many industries internships can help you get that foot in the door. However while some internship experiences can be mutually beneficial, others can be just plain awful.

It's not uncommon to hear tales from former interns that sound like modern day horror stories.

There are the interns who work so hard for free they can barely afford to eat...

And the interns who have even ended up severely out of pocket by using their own money while running errands for their boss.

Whether it be driving their own car, mailing parcels and packages or photocopying and printing annual reports.

Some interns have been forced to do coffee runs, clean office bathrooms and assemble furniture.
