After 9/11, it was reported that one of the few things to survive the World Trade Center attacks was AT&T's switching system. In this 1976 short film from Western Electric, we learn that AT&T's local network switching equipment was located in a deep sub-basement of the Twin Towers. Culture Buzz In his first trip to New York following the death of Osama bin Laden, here are photos of President Obama laying a wreath and observing a moment of silence at Ground Zero. Beautiful and heart-wrenching. A small semblance of closure.
Culture Buzz In his first trip to New York following the death of Osama bin Laden, here are photos of President Obama meeting with the first responders of September 11th. He's seen here with firefighters at Engine 54, Ladder 4, Battalion 9 and with police officers at the First Precinct. And that's indeed Rudy Giuliani with him. It's nice to see everyone putting politics aside, at least for a few days.
