Hot from the retweetery, the BBC is reports that Pear Analyitcs has done a study showing that 40% of all twittering is babble. Another 37.5% is conversation, the rest is mostly self promotion and spam.

Really curious to find out how this is done exactly, but someone somewhere has managed to change a real trending topic on Twitter - #MrsSlocombe - into something childish, as you can tell from the screenshot above. Actually, it turned out that the whole thing was about a recurring joke on the classic British sitcom “Are You Being Served”. Gaming twitter search is a consistent problem, though not in this case.
