TV BUZZ: The media is all revved up to see how The Daily Show (and political comedy in general) will thrive in the era of Obama, a president who, unlike Bush, is shaping up to not be an a-hole and single-handedly destroy the country. If all were right in the world, Dubya would get his own segment on The Daily Show , letting us see how funny the guy can be when not, you know, controlling the fate of the free world.

Because a full half-hour infomercial wasn’t quite enough, Barack Obama also made a guest appearance on last night’s Daily Show . Though he generally doesn’t believe in the Bradley effect, he has been going to therapy to make sure his white half doesn’t mess it up in the voting booth.

TV BUZZ: The Daily Show ‘s fake blowhards and real-life husband and wife have signed with CBS to star in a sitcom based on Jones’s celebrity chef character and his associate, played by Bee. Here’s to hoping they follow in the footsteps of Steve Carell and Ed Helms instead of Rob Corddry (who is still hilarious, despite being given some awful material ).

TV BUZZ: In the age of Obama, Comedy Central is [finally] trying to capture an African-American audience in this sketch show disguised as a newsmagzine set to air before The Daily Show and The Colbert Report (not bad). Rumor has it that Tyler Perry had to be “forcibly removed” from the set when he learned that his name wasn’t attached to the project. Thank goodness too, because we’ll take Grier’s Maya Angelou over towering nightmare Madea any day. (Also, I made up that rumor.)

Yes, it’s what The Daily Show is known best for: recognizing hypocritical blowhards in politics. But this clip, in which Jon Stewart so effortlessly lambasts right-wing luminaries Karl Rove and Bill O’Reilly as they bemoan the alleged sexism being faced by Sarah Palin, is a must-see. And to think: it’s very likely the interns sifting through endless footage at The Daily Show who are quietly rocking the political stratosphere. Go get ‘em, kids.
