Who would have thought it was possible? A real live spider that's actually cute.
To be fair, it's still scary as all hell and probably full of evil intentions, but somehow it manages to be totally precious at the same time! I'm going to have some positively adorable nightmares tonight.

SCIENCE BUZZ:
A handful of spiders were shot into space for a study on how they spin their webs in zero gravity.
I can't help but imagine this as the first mistake in some sci-fi movie about spider-aliens taking over the International Space Station. Gives me the heebie-jeebies!

A Golden Orb Spider that is probably as big as my hand was caught on camera actually eating a native Australian Finch.
I hate spiders, so this completely terrifies me. At the same time, I’ve gotta hand it to Nature for totally flipping the old food chain upside down.

SCIENCE BUZZ:
Biologist, Jason Bond discovered a new species of trapdoor spider which he has named Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi in honor of his favorite musician.
Young joins the ranks of the late rock ‘n’ roll legend Roy Orbison who has a whirligig beetle Orectochilus orbisonorum named to honor him. I’m not sure if this makes spiders lovable or even creepier.
