Culture Buzz 2011 gave way to plenty of celebrity scandal, from Lindsay Lohan's hearings to Anthony Weiner's, well, weiner. But if only these things had happened, then 2011 may have been that much stranger.
Here's some ticket sales data to show you just how true the statement “No publicity is bad publicity” really is. (via seatgeek.com)

So much crazy shit happened this summer.
Celebrity Buzz The Donald made his ruling on the Miss California nude photo scandal, and has decided to forgive Carrie Prejean's past indiscretion(s). Fortunately for us, it would appear that Ms. Prejean is the gift that keeps on giving.

Kwame Kilpatrick was sent to jail for four months Tuesday for his part in a sex-and-text scandal. How many politicians can we send to jail this week?
Cheerleaders at the University of Idaho get in trouble for their scandalous uniforms, again. It’s the second time they’ve had to censure their outfits for being “too skimpy,” according to complaints from fans.
Politics Buzz Yet more Palin family scandal: the Enquirer claims Track Palin, shipping out soon for Iraq, spent his time in Alaska mainlining OxyContin. They’ve also got anonymous teens saying Bristol was “a huge stoner and drinker.”
Politics Buzz A blogger on Daily Kos accuses VP candidate Sarah Palin of faking a pregnancy so she could pretend her daughter’s baby was her own. The supporting evidence: Tons of photos of Palin looking very normal when she was supposedly seven months pregnant with Trig, plus her strange behavior around the birth. Even if this story is bull, will Palin have to release photos of little Trig crowning to shut down the rumor?
Celebrity Buzz Inexplicably, the well of racy Miley Cyrus shots has yet to run dry. The same hacker who released her wet t-shirt photos has apparently struck again. This has moved beyond uncomfortable for everyone involved.
Celebrity Buzz Next up in her never-ending parade of photo scandals: Photos of Miley showering, hacked from her iPhone. The image will probably cause more sanctimony and outrage even though actually shows less skin than her Vanity Fair photoshoot. There's also a shot of her blowing air kisses at her iPhone — the hacker who claims to have found them say they were sent to Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers.
Style Buzz The Czech supermodel was criticized in the Brazilian press for having “back fat, love handles and cellulite” after a recent swimwear show. Yikes! This makes even less sense than that Jennifer Love Hewitt flap of last year. Kurkova was #6 on this year’s Forbes list of top-earning models; is also not fat.
Politics Buzz The former White House press secretary’s new tell-all book, What Happened, comes out on Monday, and is already generating a lot of press. There will be a lot of punditry today about whether the book’s revelations say anything new or meaningful, but our favorite excerpt being passed around the blogs is McClellan’s reporting that Bush admitted he’s unable to remember if he did cocaine or not in his younger days: “You know, the truth is I honestly don’t remember whether I tried it or not. We had some pretty wild parties back in the day, and I just don’t remember.”
Culture Buzz A 30-year-old high school science teacher has been fired for some bikini-clad photos that appear on a fishing charter-boat website. [Update: She now does porn flicks under the name Leah Lust] Sucks for Tiffany. But business must be booming for whoever came up with the idea of combining deep sea fishing and busty bikini-clad girls. It's like Hooters on a boat!
Sports Buzz Baseball pitching great Roger Clemens had a 10-year affair with country singer Mindy McCready that began when she was 15-years-old. What better way to launch a career than a giant sex scandal? She’s working on a documentary, as well as staging a comeback with a reality show and a new album. It’s been a while since someone wrote a catchy tune about statutory rape.
Celebrity Buzz MySpace claims another scantily-clad victim: This time a mayor in Oregon. Mayor Kontur-Gronquist of the tiny town of Arlington, Oregon, was just recalled as mayor over pictures of posing her in lingerie (in a firetruck!) surfaced on her MySpace page. Do these people never read the internet?
