Golden Globes viewers will recall that Ricky Gervais stopped himself from telling a “worse” Holocaust joke onstage. Here it is: “I was going to say that when I got the DVD for 'Schindler's List', one critic said, 'You should have a box of tissues ready,' ” he smiled coyly. “And I was going to say, 'That sounds a bit sick!” Not that funny, but the whole bit gave me an excuse to watch Extras clips for an hour, so…worth it.

Last night’s Emmy Awards ceremony was mostly lackluster (thanks, Howie Mandel). Despite the 30 Rock sweep and Don Rickles riffing, there were only a small handful of enjoyable moments, the best by far being the stand-off between Ricky Gervais and Steve Carrell. Also, Josh Groban - in an attempt to be “funny” - sang a cheeky medley of TV theme songs, which was ultimately terrifying, as his dead eyes prove that he’s the most lifelike robot we’ve ever seen.
