SCIENCE BUZZ: Dave Chameides keeps all the garbage he creates in his house and blogs about it to point out all the mindless trash we generate. Reading the Time profile on this guy has seriously made me reconsider all the trash I generate just from drinking bottled water.

FOOD BUZZ: A refillable jug for carrying fresh beer home from the local brewery is a way to buy cheap beer without the wasteful packaging. There’s something so old-fashioned and quaint about the idea of carrying home some artisanal beer in a big jug. It’s like something Hansel and Gretel would do if they were wastoids.

STYLE BUZZ: Pop Topping is the art of making crafts from soda can tabs. This rich tradition was first documented back in 1975 in the book Start Off in Pop Topping and is still around today. I am glad crafters are practicing creative reuse, but I hope for their sake they aren’t actually drinking all that soda.

STYLE BUZZ: A volunteer run organization in Australia loans out clothing to unemployed people for crucial job interviews. There’s not much buzz on these yet, but we’d love to see someone take the idea and run with it. It almost seems like something we can’t believe doesn’t exist in America yet.
