The current state of untested rape kits is “simply unacceptable,” says Attorney General Eric Holder.
“We are failing rape victims,” said Meghan Ybos, a survivor in Memphis, where an estimated 12,000 rape kits are gathering dust in police evidence rooms.
The class-action lawsuit filed last week accuses the city of failing to supervise its police department and discriminating against women.
