Culture Buzz I dare you to find something that is NOT disturbing about this. This is a performance art piece by Swedish provocateur Makode Linde, described by the Swedish press as a N***er Cake, that he claims is meant to raise awareness of female circumcision in Africa. And that's the Swedish Minister of Culture taking a slice out of him in the photos. Not the best photo op for a Swedish politician.

Behold, the continuing meltdown of one of Hollywood's foremost bigots…allegedly. Seriously, how does this guy still get work?
Politics Buzz A Pinterest user/troll named “George” owns some valuable internet real estate: pinterest.com/obama. He celebrates by posting a racist photo of a monkey.
Movie Buzz Smh. Every group of fans has its embarrassing, ignorant faction, but COME ON. (via Huger Games Tweets)

A photograph of a bumper sticker that features racist, anti-Obama language has gone viral on Facebook and other social networks. The sticker reads “Don't Re-Nig In 2012,” in large white type, above smaller text that reads: “Stop repeat offenders.

The quote says the model is “Stepping Out of the Shadows.” Hours after the issue hit shelves, locals were outraged by the racial implications and petitioned to have it recalled.
Culture Buzz They're undeniably awful. Landmark Steakhouse in Newport Beach, California settled out of court for an undisclosed amount after an African American customer received the following receipts on the same day. Makes Papa John's look positively enlightened. WARNING: N-word ahoy.
Culture Buzz Billboards are everywhere and are pretty much unavoidable. Sometimes, advertisers like to demonstrate a little creativity: a pun here, a touching sentiment there. I'm not sure if they know what the word “creativity” means.
Politics Buzz Awkward. Ron Paul really doesn't like talking about the outrageously offensive newsletters he funded, published and profited from (but denies reading, writing or remembering).
http://www.theroot.com/buzz/whites-only-pool-sign-ohio
Hold up, let me make sure we haven’t all mistakenly taken a wrong turn into the 1960s. An Ohio landlord wants a state civil rights commission to reconsider its decision that found her to have discriminated against a black girl by placing a “Whites Only” sign at a swimming pool.
Politics Buzz This image was posted on the website of the Patriot Freedom Alliance of Hutchinson, Kansas and was swiftly condemned by the NAACP. As a Kansan, my heart is bursting with pride. Oh. Wait. That's not pride. It's a myocardial infarction.
http://eater.com/archives/2011/12/12/chickfila-receipts-c...
Why are your sandwiches so tasty but your policies so gross?! Chick-fil-A, known bastion of open-mindedness, is in a spot of trouble after a customer posted the above receipts on his blog.
Culture Buzz After Stella Harville brought her Zimbabwe-born fiance to the Gulnare Free Will Baptist church last summer, a former pastor proposed to ban interracial couples from joining the Pike County congregation “to promote greater unity among the church body.” Church members voted 9-6 in favor of the ban this week.

Or are adults reading too much into these beloved characters? This week Pippi Longstocking joins Papa Smurf, Babar, and an army of Disney characters accused of promoting negative stereotypes.
Never underestimate a person's capacity to change. This is Bryon Widner. After years as a militant neo-Nazi, he had a change of heart and endured hours of painful surgery to have his racist tattoos removed. Read more about his amazing transformation here.
Politics Buzz Who would have thought that a country founded by immigrants would be so bigoted? Everyone, that's who.
Politics Buzz Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul used to publish a libertarian newsletter in the '80s and '90s. They were not, shall we say, sane. From those newsletters, here are some racist/homophobic/anti-semitic musings on everything from AIDS to Hate Whitey Day (aka Martin Luther King Jr. Day). Paul says he didn't write any of the following quotes, but they all appeared under his name. Yiiiiiikes.
Chong sure does work hard to get those stains out of the BBQ master’s apron.
Culture Buzz You're walking along when someone spits on the ground just as they pass you. It's a disgusting habit, but was it a challenge? A judgement? Consider the following cases and discuss.
After a high school football game, fans of the winning team held up a sign saying, “You Mad Bro?” The NAACP, as well as fans of the opposing team felt this was a racial statement. Here's the very serious local newscast about it. (via fox8.com)
In an effort to welcome Colorado and Utah to the Pac-12, a Fox Sports reporter went to USC and only interviewed Asian students who knew nothing about football. Get it? It's funny because they sound funny! They have accents! How un-American! (via deadspin.com)
Culture Buzz Disgusting. Authorities in South Africa are trying to find any information regarding this photo and the welfare of the child therein. The Facebook user who posted it goes by the name “Eugene Terrorblanche.” Police contact information can be found here. WARNING: This is truly an awful image. We can only hope it's staged.
Style Buzz Look like you give a damn…about socially acceptable forms of advertisement. This is a horrible misrepresentation of the Chenning meme. Shame on you Nivea!
Politics Buzz Whoops. Colorado Republican Doug Lamborn stepped in the briar patch last week when he used the phrase “tar baby” in association with President Obama. Rep. Lamborn has since personally written the President to apologize for his poor choice of words, with a spokesman saying he should have said “quagmire” instead of “tar baby.” If you don't know why “tar baby” is offensive to African Americans, just do a quick Urban Dictionary search. If you dare. (via salon.com)
Culture Buzz And to think these signs only became illegal in 1994. While overt American racial tensions of the 50s and 60s were content to divide folks into black or white, South Africa really went the extra mile. People were white, black, coloured, Asian, “other Asian” or “honorary white”, with each group having its own rules and social stigma complete with paperwork to prove what group you were part of.
A mediocre movie's verified Twitter account uses a not-so-vaguely racist trending topic to promote video sales. If only there was a pill they could have taken to foresee this was a bad idea.
Culture Buzz Yo dawg, I heard you like planking…so that means you're rather callously emulating the slave trade. How dare you. We'll let Xzibit explain in his own Twitter words (Twords). (via tmz.com)
At least she isn't really black. Sage words of wisdom from Eileen's suburban mom. (via todaysbigthing.com)
