TECH BUZZ: Of 6500 professional men surveyed by Sheraton Hotels, 35 percent of them preferred their Blackberries to their wives. Immediately, the wives responded, “Well maybe if you’d learn how to use your thumbs at the same time in the bedroom , we wouldn’t have this problem!” (Ba dum bum!)

A cool visualization technique adds up the polls in all the states, shows the margin of error in the data, and let’s you see at a glance the chances of each candidate getting the 270 electoral college votes need to win on election day. Right now the future of our country is entirely within the margin of error. Makes you feel safe, doesn’t it?

The post-convention bounce gives McCain a 10 point lead according to one poll but the actual data tells a more complicated story. Recent polls show a huge spread of almost 20% with Obama ahead in some and McCain ahead in others. This image from Pollster.com shows a nice graph of polls over time and two trend lines. The blue and red trend lines show Obama slightly ahead but his lead has decreased since July.

TECH BUZZ: A website that lets you upload videos representing two different sides of an argument, and then let the audience vote for which side they’re on. It never occurred to me that The People’s Court could get quite this RAW. From the very mundane (“Should making your bed be part of a daily routine?”) to some of Life’s Big Questions (“Is it okay for a girl to ask a guy out?”), this site’s RAWness makes me feel like I’m at the center of my own existential crisis.
