I really am a cop and despite what your average 17 year old Redditor thinks I actually deal with some pretty horrific things on a regular basis. I'm on Reddit often and despite what a lot of Redditors may believe, I actually have to deal with a lot of really heavy things. I see people at their absolute worst and whenever I deal with genuinely good people, it's because something awful has happened to them. I am, at all times, surrounded by negativity…and is it appreciated? No. I'm OK with that. But Reddit is a particularly frustrating place, as I see a lot of very young, inexperienced Redditors making outlandish blanket statements about the profession of policing.
