If you've got a commenter account on any Gawker Media site, change your password. Gawker Media's entire commenter database was hacked on Saturday by a group called Gnosis, and over 250,000 passwords were posted on The Pirate Bay.
After initially being taken offline by Swedish authorities, and after its first escape route failed, The Pirate Bay has returned with all guns blazing!
Following the earlier court defeat for Fredrik, Gottfrid and Peter and the pending civil action taken by several Hollywood studios, the Swedish authorities have now ordered The Pirate Bay to be disconnected from the Internet. The site's bandwidth suppliers have been threatened with a large fine.

A copyright law specialist who has studied how cassette tapes changed music creation despite strong resistance from the music industry, Wallis is testifying that entertainment execs are greatly exaggerating the losses they claim they've incurred due to file-sharing websites. The Pirate Bay defense lawyers are arguing something they are calling “The King Kong defense.” Lawyer Per Samuelson said the owners of the site don't know the users who are uploading material and they “might as well be King Kong in the jungles of Cambodia.”
