The lovely, talented, and Oscar-nominated Carey Mulligan once took her shirt off in a film. Here are the very classy stills for your enjoyment.
Movie Buzz Good news: your favorite movie was probably nominated, since there are 10 spots. Bad news: if your favorite movie was The Hangover, the previous sentence does not apply.
Celebrity Buzz The 24-year-old An Education star is the new Hollywood It girl, thanks to Oscar buzz and the unfortunate choice of Shia LaBeouf as a boyfriend. Aside from Shia, she's smart and charming and a fashionplate and all that you want from an ingenue (with a pixie haircut to boot).
Celebrity Buzz Recently nominated for her supporting role in Doubt, the Julliard-trained Rhode Island native has hit the ground running, earning endless praise for a role that keeps Davis onscreen for less than ten minutes. Dame Judi Dench took home gold for an eight minute-long appearance in Shakespeare In Love, so it doesn't appear that Academy members are necessarily watching the clock.
Movie Buzz Michelle Williams' latest film is about a girl, a dog, and a depressing road trip to Alaska. It's in the running for Indie flick of the year and might very well earn Williams her second Oscar nomination. It also looks as silent and sad as a pet's funeral (please don't let that sentence jinx Lucy.)
Movie Buzz The independent critical darling about a desperate trailer mom who gets involved with immigrant smuggling is gaining major buzz as the Oscar race tightens. Star Melissa Leo could very well be this year's Amy Ryan, but, like Ryan, does that mean she'll join the cast of The Office? You never know.
Welcome back, Mickey Rourke. Watch the trailer for his much-anticipated comeback flick, “The Wrestler” — the actor's attempt at an Oscar. Mickey, you're so fine with that long blond hair, jacked body, and stripper girlfriend. Coupled with Bruce Springsteen ballads in the background, this is definitely a hit in the making.
Movie Buzz A comeback film for Mickey Rourke and director Darren Aronofsky, The Wrestler is already generating lots of Oscar buzz. Personally, I just want to see if for the head stapling scene, but I’ve got issues that I can only work out via cinema. (The movie opens December 19th.)
A trailer for the much-anticipated film. The Times of Harvey Milk, a documentary about the San Francisco city supervisor who was the first openly gay man to hold public office, won an Academy Award in 1984 — this film seems primed for awards season, too.
Movie Buzz As more reviews of The Dark Knight keep rolling in, Heath Ledger as the Joker is getting all the attention. Peter Travers’ review in Rolling Stone kicked off the Oscar chatter, but most other people who’ve seen the movie seem to agree that Leger is amazing in the role.
Movie Buzz Someone’s compiled a video of the best moments from this biopic, starring Willa Ford. In the grand tradition of Oscar-worthy biopics like Ray and Walk the Line, this is pretty much the most anticipated movie of the year.
