Dan Siegel will no longer be advising Mayor Jean Quan on legal matters. Instead he has decided to stand with the 99%. This comes after Siegel urged people to head to the protests last night to stand with the protestors as the police raided their camp. (via twitter.com)

Police and protesters in Oakland continue to do battle in what has become the most confrontational of the Occupy demonstrations. Early in the evening on Wednesday the demonstration reached its peak, when between 5,000-10,000 people turned out to shut down the port.
While police forces were in full blown riot gear firing tear gas and rubber bullets at protestors, one Navy veteran stands strong amidst the chaos. He doesn’t even flinch while holding the U.S. constitution and Veteran’s for Peace flag. They really make the Navy tough as nails. (via youtube.com) Watch Video ›

So last night the streets of Oakland turned into a Michael Bay movie for a while. The images and video are somewhat reminiscent of those we saw in Egypt earlier this year. Seeing as these type of images occurring in our country are somewhat rare, I figured it would be interesting to see how the media was covering the story.
