Ah, so that's how they do it! If things don't work out for Adam Lambert, we think we have a pretty solid idea for a back-up plan, at least after one look at Big Bird's fierce platforms.
TV Buzz Inspired by the news that Sesame Street will parody Mad Men in its upcoming 40th anniversary season, we've decided to step in and do a little casting this morning. Here's five, but even more on Flavorwire.
GaGa traded the leotard for Animal print. Literally. Sadly, she still looks like Miss Piggy from the neck up.
TV Buzz Today's pop culture exegesis is courtesy of Bryan Lynch, who posits that 30 Rock is a ripoff (or homage!) of The Muppet Show. The Kenneth/Scooter comparison really brings it home. You can also bet your life's fortune that the Muppets will make another round of cameos now (way to remember, Scott).
The First Lady appeared on Sesame Street to talk about nutrition and healthy eating, and also to be THE BEST. Dream First Lady appearance on Sesame Street: Barbara Bush as George Washington. Let's make it happen.
Pricasso paints stuff with his dong and butt, like this portrait of Dubya getting “reared” by a bull [market]. Although we could do without the lamé leg warmers.
Celebrity Buzz Paul Rudd was just on Sesame Street dressed up as a giant globe, singing and dancing about the environment. Also, I think I've been waiting my entire life to write that sentence.
My video response to this video.
C is for Crooked, that's good enough for us. If we had the time, we'd totally have done a Rod Blagojevich parody with this Cabbage Patch Doll.
While that headband may be hot, PETA (and Jim Henson) are gonna be pissssssssed.
A mixed-media video set to a Daft Punk remix celebrates our new Prez in the most seizure-inducing of fashions. Was that Miss Piggy? That was most definitely Miss Piggy. Even Muppets love the guy!
Beethoven's “Ode to Joy,” performed by Beaker. Muppets make me absurdly happy.
A very clever Brit has come up with a simple way to foil German traffic cameras. Driving a British car on German roads means cameras wind up catching the passenger seat instead of the driver, making it look like Animal is recklessly speeding through Bavaria, which is so like him.
TV Buzz Kanye West is teaming up with Comedy Central to create a new show described as “Hip hop meets the Muppets”. The show’s being produced by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla’s Jackhole Productions which also did Crank Yankers. Looks like the puppet music video for Champion gave some desperate Cable TV execs an idea. Unfortunately, Jim Henson was not available, so they settled on Kanye instead.
TV Buzz If a new Muppet film goes well, Disney might bring the show back. Forgetting Sarah Marshall writer Jason Segel, who’s writing the film, is already talking about writing a show too. So maybe that explains these cute little official-looking Muppet clips on YouTube last month.
Jeff Rubin points us to what is possibly the sweetest segment to ever appear on Sesame Street. It’s when the little girl professes her love for Kermit that you can totally imagine the puppeteer start to well up a little bit.
The Muppets love America! Does it get more patriotic than The Swedish Chef? No, no it doesn’t. Happy 4th!
