Culture Buzz Last night I received an invite to try out Canv.as, the highly anticipated project from 4chan founder Chris “moot” Poole. It's not the new 4chan, and it's not supposed to be.

4Chan founder, Chris Poole (aka Moot) was called in to testify in the case of Sarah Palin's email hacker. In what is undoubtedly the funniest court transcript of all time, he explains the terms “newfags” and “rickrolling”.

What's a rickroll? And a “b tard”?
The Smoking Gun has dug up some entertaining testimony from the trial of David Kernell, the 22 year-old hacker convicted of breaking in to then vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's email in 2008. Specifically, it's the testimony of Christopher 'Moot' Poole, founder and administrator of 4Chan, the image board on which Palin's password was posted.

Nick Bilton of the NYTimes speaks will Moot. Sadly, no pedobear references.
In preparation for his big TED talk on Thursday, 4Chan's creator Moot asks /b/ for some tips on talking points. They respond exactly how you'd expect them to.
The names of the 21 leaders of the Time Top 100 most influential people are an acrostic for “Marble Cake Also the Game”. It seems like getting their fearless leader moot to the top spot on the list wasn't 4chan's only agenda in this sinister piece of manipulation. Marble Cake was also the game. WTF is “marble cake”? And why does 4chan CONTROL OUR LIVES!?
Looks like the 4chan army is out and at the polls for Dear Leader over at Time's “World's Most Influential” voting site. moot was at #1 earlier today, but by the time I got the screenshot he was holding it down at #4 with an average rating of 73 and a whopping 248,718 votes. Update: He's back on top! Go moot go!
Tech Buzz The man who started the internet meme-machine and creator of LOLcat, 4chan, at age 15 was profiled in the Wall Street Journal. He's a mystery wrapped in an enigma. In researching him, I feel like I've delved into the seedy internet underground of teenage boydom.
