Last week, 28 Columbia University students carried mattresses to protest the university’s policy on rape. At the end of the protest, the students left their mattresses on the street outside of University President Lee Bollinger’s lawn and are now faced with $471 in cleanup fees. Update — Nov. 13, 12:44am: The feminist group “Ultraviolet” is going to pay the fee.
