Are baby animals still cute after they've been frozen for 40,000 years? Lyuba here was discovered by a Siberian reindeer herder. She's perfectly preserved - she even has eyelashes. Researchers think she was a month old when she fell into a river and was suffocated in mud. Aw.

Baby mammoth Lyuba died in a swamp 40,000 years ago, but her intact, pickled body is giving scientists new insights into those crazy mythical creatures from the Ice Age. Waking the Baby Mammoth, a National Geographic show, profiled Lyuba last night, pointing out that her skin and internal organs are still intact, and that there are still traces of her mother's milk in her stomach. Which is actually very sad, when you think about it.
