    At a joint event with Obama at the Saddleback Church, John McCain told a touching story about a fellow prisoner in Vietnam who drew a cross in the sand. But did he steal it from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn? McCain first told his “cross in the dirt” story in 2000, but not about himself. He never mentioned it in his 1973 account of his imprisonment.
