Russia’s New Flesh-Eating Drug Epidemic: Krokodil
All across the poorer areas of Russia, hundreds of thousands of people are using the drug “Krokodil,” or crocodile (named for the green-scaly appearance of the user’s skin at the injection site). It consists of codeine mixed with gasoline, paint thinner, hydrochloric acid, iodine and red phosphorous. Users typically die within 3 years, but not before their flesh rots off.
