J.K. Rowling has announced the latest addition to the Harry Potter universe. Overwhelmed? Underwhelmed? Whelmed? Going to participate in the continuing viral marketing until October?
You didn't really think they'd turn off the Harry Potter spigot after “Deathly Hallows,” did you? Little is known of the site, Pottermore.com, although a fan who was given a sneak peak says it's “breathtaking in scope, detail and sheer beauty.” It was discovered after Rowling teased various Potter fansites with clues, revealed through a “Secret Street View” scavenger hunt. As of right now, it only contains a few photos of owls and Rowling's signature, plus a “Coming Soon” placeholder in the author's handwriting. (via hollywoodreporter.com)

Culture Buzz J.K. Rowling testified in court against a fan who hopes to make a lexicon from the Harry Potter series. Is making an encyclopedia of Harry Potter lore stealing or fair use? A teary Rowling called what Steve Vander Ark has done with “The Harry Potter Lexicon” - currently only a website, but soon to possibly be a book as well - nothing less than “wholesale theft.”
