Efforts to tell children It Gets Better often focus on the gay, lesbian, and bisexual kids who are bullied at recess and at the dinner table. But a new study shows that straight kids are persecuted in childhood, too—when they're perceived to be gay.

Culture Buzz Jamie Hubley, a 15-year old gay teen who was bullied at school, killed himself on Friday. His suicide note was found on Tumblr.
At a school dance following his wake, some classmates of Jamey Rodemeyer chanted “We’re glad he’s dead.” Jamey’s sister heard them. Horrible.
Anderson Cooper summarizes the 14 year old’s struggle with intensely painful bullying, which ultimately led to his suicide. More importantly, he highlights anti-gay activists’ denial of such harassment, and insists that they be held accountable for their part in such tragedies.
Jamey Rodemeyer was 14-years-old and a victim of constant bullying. A few months ago he posted a beautiful, tearful “It Gets Better” video, but his time at school had not improved since its release.
