SCIENCE BUZZ: Designer Greg Lynn created an indoor wall made of plastic “blobs” as alternatives to bricks, resulting in something not only environmentally sustainable, but delightfully cartoonish. Bubblegum, membrane, pimples — call it what you want, but whatever the Blobwall resembles, it sure is more fun to look at than wood paneling.

STYLE BUZZ: Dutch architects invent a window frame that can be extended into a balcony. I could see these being totally ubiquitous and being sold at an IKEA near you. There was probably a time when sofabeds seemed really ingenious and innovative.
