Izod Indy Car driver Dan Wheldon lost his life in a firey 15-car crash in the early stages of a race in Las Vegas this afternoon. The race was called after drivers were informed of Wheldon’s death as three other drivers were also taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. Our thoughts are with Wheldon’s friends and family.

On Tuesday, May 22, 1984, fan boys gathered outside Mann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood for the opening night of “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.” The L.A. Times dubbed them “virtual Indiana clones,” since the word “cosplay” wasn’t part of the Hollywood lexicon.
