The official trailer for this summer's ultimate indie rom-com is officially out and has all the bloggers…blogging. Seriously? The trailer starts with Zooey Deschanel (swoon) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (double swoon) talking about The Smiths? I'm already in line for tickets.
Movie Buzz Michelle Williams' latest film is about a girl, a dog, and a depressing road trip to Alaska. It's in the running for Indie flick of the year and might very well earn Williams her second Oscar nomination. It also looks as silent and sad as a pet's funeral (please don't let that sentence jinx Lucy.)
Movie Buzz A non-standard rom-com about a video clerk and his porn-loving customer. This seems interesting and quirky without falling into the deathtrap of mumblecore, but we’ll have to see it to be sure.
Celebrity Buzz The actress — who made a full recovery from a recent brain aneurysm (although she is still battling multiple sclerosis) — has resurfaced in two indies, reminding us how much we missed her. As far as we’re concerned, Garr is Tina Fey 1.0, and nothing beats the original (although we totes love Tina).
Movie Buzz New film opens next week has an all-star comedic cast including Amy Sedaris, Debbie Harry, Alan Cumming, and Judah Friedlander. It’s about little boys stuck in grown-men bodies. You’ll probably relate to this movie if you’ve ever known (or happen to be) a hopelessly adolescent man.
Movie Buzz A new independent comedy about a suburban martial arts teacher that Will Ferrell claims is “the best comedy ever.” It’s that type of vulgar, lewd humor with just the right amount of heart that sensitive guys and fratboys can simultaneously appreciate.
Celebrity Buzz She may have just been the sidekick in Juno, but her star is quickly on the rise. With a slew of movies being released this year, the young ingenue may be Hollywood’s next big (but not pregnant) thing.
Movie Buzz With Juno a huge box office success and now a multiple Oscar nominee, the haters are out in full force. Among their chief complaints: the film’s treatment of pregnancy, its “horribly precious” soundtrack, and especially its arch lexicon. Seriously, honest to blog! But never fear, the backlash-to-the-backlash has already begun.
Movie Buzz Who ever thought the awkward, adenoidal kid who played George Michael Bluth on Arrested Development would turn into a sex symbol? Amazingly enough, Michael Cera’s roles in the hit films Juno and Superbad have made him an object of adoration with a certain type of woman. Dudes everywhere are hoping the Michael Cera backlash sets in soon.
