To celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark”, the publisher has removed the original, scary as hell artwork for which the book was beloved by all and replaced it with boring illustrations.

“Pincel de Zorro” by Spanish author Sergio A. Sierrapaint is brought to life by artist Meritxell Ribas, whose uses a technique called grattage to scrape paint off the page with a pointed tool, leaving only the canvas beneath.
