Abu Dhabi ruler Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan commissioned his staff to permanently etch his name into a three-kilometer (about two miles) stretch of sand on his private island across the water from the city. The letters are one kilometer (about 2/3 of a mile) high and the ‘H’ and ‘A’ are filled with water, presumably so Hamad can go boating in his own name. Now that’s an ego.
