Corinthian Colleges will attempt to sell almost all of its 97 US campuses, according to an agreement reached with the Education Department late last night. Experts say the Education Department’s move to shut down Corinthian is a warning, and a possible threat, to other for-profit colleges.
The agreement would prevent the company’s campuses from shutting down immediately.
Apollo Education Group bought an 81% stake in Milpark Education for $25.6 million. The company, whose for-profit University of Phoenix is seeing declining enrollment, has been expanding in international markets since 2007.
