President Obama often finds himself the target of Republican attacks for his record of increasing food stamps for poor Americans: Newt Gingrich alled him the “food stamp president.” Presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney has charged the President wants to turn America into a “European social-welfare state.” But in a 2004 press release, Governor Romney’s office boasted of receiving a grant of $1.25 million for their ability to operate the programs efficiently.
