A surprisingly distracting little game that judges your ability to eyeball distances and angels. Mouse is probably the better way to go here, and don’t play more than three games lest you go insane.

It’s Team McCain vs. Team Obama in a Mortal Kombat-style Flash game. Beware Palin’s deadly hockey stick/shotgun weapon! I must be lame, but I couldn’t get past the first level as Obama (special move: fires doves of hope) or Biden (shoots offensive feet out of his mouth).

TECH BUZZ: If you need an excuse to revisit the Tower Defense game, this upgrade (with new towers and very different feel) is the rationale you’ve been waiting for. If you’re low on self-discipline like me, it might be best to save this for a slow Friday afternoon, or else your co-workers will start to talk.

TECH BUZZ: A curious little Flash game that mixes Erik Sate-like music with visuals out of a Miyazaki film. It’s not easy to play (even escaping the orbit of the first planet proved tricky), but it does feel like entering another world.

TECH BUZZ: Mixing Crayon Physics and Magic Pen, it’s a Flash game that lets you build tiny animated machines. The object is simple: Create a contraption to move a ball or block across the screen. It’s easy to test and change your contraptions, plus you can see what other players have done in the past to compare ideas.

TECH BUZZ: Create a virus to kill everyone in the world. You’d be surprised how difficult it is — I thought this game was too slow-moving at first, and it does take a few tries to get into it (the tutorial videos, while boring, are key). But once the pieces fit together, it can quickly suck your afternoon away. Like Risk, certain countries are key (hello, Madagascar!).
