Police say the 40-year-old was expected to check out around 1 p.m. yesterday, but it was around that time maid service found him unconscious and not breathing. An autopsy report is expected to be released by the Cook County Examiner's Office later today.
Culture Buzz In response to last night's announcement on the death of Steve Jobs, Apple customers and fans are dropping flowers and paying their respects at Apple stores around the globe. Turning off the Apple logo at the Hong Kong location was a nice touch.

Retired Army General John Shalikashvili died of complications from a stroke at a medical hospital in Washington state on Saturday. He served under President Bill Clinton as the first foreign-born Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and was Clinton's head military advisor during the U.S. involvement in the Bosnian War. The former general immigrated to the United States from Poland at age 16 and was 75 when he died. (via CNN and National Journal.)
Culture Buzz Former First Lady Betty Ford, wife of President Gerald Ford, has passed away at the age of 93. Ford was a courageous survivor of both alcohol addiction and breast cancer who went on to champion such issues as the Equal Rights Amendment. She famously founded The Betty Ford Center, a world-renowned treatment clinic for substance abuse. She had been ailing in recent years, but no official cause of death has been released.
This is entirely too sad. Fireman Shannon Stone was attempting to catch a ball at a Texas Rangers game when he lost his balance and fell over the railing. As his young son looked on, he dropped nearly 20 feet to the pavement below. Stone appeared to be fine as he was taken out of the park by paramedics, but died suddenly in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Although he did not pass away on camera, some may find this video disturbing.
Celebrity Buzz Peter Falk, best known for his roles as the rumpled detective from television's Columbo and as the storytelling grandpa from “The Princess Bride,” has passed away. Falk had been struggling in recent years with Alzheimer's disease, but no official cause of death has been released. He was 83-years-old.

Celebrity Buzz Very sad news. It's being reported by TMZ that professional wrestling icon “Macho Man” Randy Savage has died in a car crash. The accident reportedly happened today in Tampa, Florida. Savage, born Randall Mario Poffo, was 58-years old.

José Saramago, the Portuguese writer who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1998 with novels that combine surrealist experimentation and a kind of sardonic peasant pragmatism, died Friday at his home in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. He was 87. The cause was multiple organ failure after a long illness, the José Saramago Foundation said in an announcement on its Web site.
