The entire roof of this house slides back to reveal a greenhouse/living room. The owners asked the architects to design a house where they could retire and grow food in the countryside. They said they were “prepared to be radical.” The result is super-cool and I want to go to there.

SCIENCE BUZZ: Designer Greg Lynn created an indoor wall made of plastic “blobs” as alternatives to bricks, resulting in something not only environmentally sustainable, but delightfully cartoonish. Bubblegum, membrane, pimples — call it what you want, but whatever the Blobwall resembles, it sure is more fun to look at than wood paneling.
