  • 11 Most Controversial Google Doodles

The Internet erupted when Google honored Veterans’ Day with a rather banal tweaking of its logo to include a waving American flag and a shining sun, which some took to look like a crescent and, therefore, and endorsement of Islam. While a stupid controversy, this was far from the first time Google’s “doodles” have caused a digital firestorm.

  • Lily Allen’s Cocaine Comments

The British bopper has encountered a whirlwind of controversy regarding an interview in which she commented on the media’s sensationalism of drug use, claiming that she knows “lots of people that take cocaine three nights a week and get up and go to work every day, no problem at all.” In response, cokeheads everywhere rejoiced, giving two trembling thumbs up before furiously searching for the drum ‘n bass remix to “Smile.” Read More ›

  • Britney Spears VMA Conspiracy

This years VMAs were (as usual) all about Britney Spears. After last year’s disaster, Britney redeemed herself by looking hot and winning Best Female, Best Pop, and Video of the Year for her video Piece of Me. But people are wondering if MTV rigged the awards in order to make up for last year’s humiliation. Call it a pity vote or ratings ploy, either way she’s back and may really be off the drugs this time. Read More ›

  • “W.” Trailer

The trailer for Oliver Stone’s biopic about George W. Bush surfaces online, promptly reminding us that November can’t come quickly enough. If the trailer is any indication, Bush is going to get the same “presidential” treatment that Stone bestowed upon Tricky Dick. (Go get ‘em, Bushie!) Watch Video ›

  • LaVena Johnson

When the body of the Private First Class was returned to her parents in Missouri from Iraq, LaVena Johnson’s father called bullsh*t on the Army’s claim that her death was the result of a suicide. Footage clearly indicates that, in reality, Johnson was likely beaten, raped and murdered (in fact, a trail of blood was photographed outside her tent). The Army, however, has refused to provide further information regarding the case, proving that, even in an “army of one,” it’s not hard for a soldier to be easily forgotten if she isn’t a white male (or, better yet, a star football player). • Spike Vs. Clint

A war of words between Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood. Lee criticized Eastwood for not having any black actors in his Iwo Jima movies, so Clint responded with, “A guy like him should shut his face.” Game on! And no, this definitely has nothing to do with generating Oscar buzz. Read More ›

  • Grand Theft Auto Erotica

The sex in the new version of Grand Theft Auto isn’t even hidden. Apparently the video games rating board saw and signed off on all the simulated sex in Grand Theft Auto IV. That isn’t stopping one of the game’s chief foes, Jack Thompson, is trying to get the game pulled from the shelves. Read More ›

  • Fitna

A controversial anti-Koran film is leaked to the web. Made by Dutch politician Geert Wilders - leader of the country’s conservative PVV Party - Fitna links violent images to the text of the Koran, and stirred up debate in the Netherlands before its release. After no Dutch television station would agree to release it in its entirety, Wilders said he’d “rather have it entirely on the Internet, than half on television.” Read More ›
