Cloverfield was the perfect combination of Godzilla, The Blair Witch Project, and Lost. J.J. Abrams lives to create pop culture hype and nobody is better at it than him. The movie was good but the true art was the marketing, the mystery, and the manufactured buzz. He proved to the entire industry that you don’t need a 100 million budget to create a Hollywood blockbuster.
Movie Buzz The mysterious monster from Cloverfield will be available as a toy. Though the look of the Cloverfield monster is a closely guarded secret, Hasbro has begun taking orders for a toy version that will ship September 30, 2008. Though no image is provided, some think NBC may have planted a spoiler in Kenneth's dream journal on 30 Rock.
Movie Buzz If you're planning to see the new monster movie Cloverfield and you have a weak stomach, have some Dramamine handy. Like The Blair Witch Project before it, the film is making moviegoers ill, thanks to its "shaky-cam" technique. Next up on the handheld horror front: The Poughkeepsie Tapes.
Movie Buzz The leading actress in the movie Cloverfield, which opens today. Ever since we laid eyes on her in Kindergarten Cop, we just knew she was going to be a huge star.
Movie Buzz With a new trailer, a new official site (plus several new viral marketing sites), buzz for the secret J.J. Abrams Movie is building steadily. As long as it's better than Snakes On A Plane, we'll all be happy. Update: Cloverfield reviews have been great so far!
