“Designed to study the beauty of decay,” Wayne Martin Belger's pinhole camera made from a human skull is super creepy. Does Belger remind anyone else of Silence of the Lamb's Buffalo Bill? *Shudder*
Tech Buzz A cheap pocket video camera that records in HD. A rival to the much-beloved Flip camera, the Zi6 doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but it will record up to 32GB of HD footage (720p), has a macro mode for close ups, and comes with rechargeable batteries — all for just $180.
Tech Buzz Sanyo’s newest HD camcorder is tiny and shiny. It’s so cute! And it has a bunch of neat-sounding features, like really slow slo-mo. Available in July for $800.
Tech Buzz Polaroid is discontinuing the production of their instant film, but they will be coming out with a hand-size printer that produces color snapshots in about 30 seconds. We like the way Polaroids have the uncanny ability to make every image look like it’s from 1982. This printer looks pretty cool, but in the meantime, we’ll be buying all the Polaroid film reserves we can get off eBay.
Science Buzz The British have developed a new camera called the ThruVision T5000 System that can see through clothes at up to 80ft away. Before your perverted heart goes all aflutter, you’ll be disappointed to find out that the x-ray exposes no physical anatomical details, and the technology will probably only be used in airports to like, make sure you’re not carrying a machine gun or a giant block of cocaine.
