Music Buzz Here's my heavily edited, totally out of context, MSM version of Billy's “explosive” one-hour interview with that INFOWARS guy, Alex Jones. (Via Gavon's Facebook)
Tech Buzz The iPad is one of the only things left that people will actually queue up for — in part because the act of waiting is in itself an experience.
TV Buzz Not a surprise, I'm sure. But what may be the best part about the upcoming “Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie” isn't so much the movie itself but the press tour that allows these guys to go wackadoo on every single regional morning show. Case in point: Fox 7's “Good Day Austin” kept cutting to “Billion Dollar” clips because host Joe Bickett couldn't deal.
Culture Buzz Heads up for any of you Austinites looking to make extra scratch next weekend.
Because a $50,000 statue for the city of Detroitdoesn't pay homage enough, Austin's Old Murder House Theatre is presenting a live production of Paul Verhoeven's RoboCop. Tickets are $5 and … did I mention the set is made of cardboard? (via.)
Culture Buzz A cute Craigslist ad from Austin attempting to sell Joepha The Gay Sofa. Joepha enjoys sunbathing and Lady Gaga. Won't you please give him a good home?
This guy was arrested after using his skateboard to bash a photographer who attempted to take a shot of his hair. Why he would want to hide such a beautiful mane from the world is a mystery. Hate crimes have been replaced by hair crimes.
Spotted today at SXSW. I do hope that David Tennant is lurking somewhere nearby…
This video is what I felt like when I moved to Austin. Home at last. I stop motion animated my brother-in-law for three weeks, rotoscoped him and added Flash animation and time-lapse photograph. Ben from Radical Face was cool enough to let me use his song “Welcome Home.” [Ed. note: Seems like everyone's moving to Austin these days. See you there, I guess.]
An ugly canine-looking creature believed to be a chupacabra was killed and captured in north Texas. The blood-sucking animal was shot after a rancher heard the beast inside his barn growling, and alerted animal control authorities.
It's safe to say, images from the indie horror flick are so graphic they'll be seared into your brain forever. But an Austin projectionist took it a little too far and had said images seared into his skin forever. Maybe leave this off your OK Cupid profile…..
Mighty Fine is a great burger place in Austin, Texas. DJ Steve Porter makes some amazing videos. Now I'm hungry and it is a bit of a drive to Austin.
