The little fella licked her face until she woke up and then helped her call the authorities. “Nobody was coming to check on me until Monday or Tuesday,” she said. “I asked him to get me the phone.”

Bennett, a foster mother for the Arizona Schnauzer Rescue, looks after four dogs and two cats. She also writes animal adventures under the pen name Bessie Mac. Danny's heroics will be her next subject.
