Brentwood Councillor Blames TOWIE Culture for Putting Girls at Greater Risk of Sexual Assault

Chris Hossack specifically names Amy Childs as "part of the problem"

One local Essex councillor says the influence of TOWIE in Brentwood has increased girls' risk of being sexually assaulted. His solution? Make it cheaper and easier for women wearing less clothing to make it home safely—at the expense of the taxi firms and the taxpayers!

"We're looking at the provision of taxis or a shuttle bus for girls who are drunk and not wearing very much—a short skirt or revealing top—as they may be a target," Cllr. Chris Hossack told the Brentwood Gazette.

He said providing "scantly clad girls" with cheaper cab fares home would be a show of "social responsibility."

A spokesperson for Victim Support said it's important to remember "that a victim is just that. It should never be suggested that a victim makes themselves open to crime because of what they wear or how they act."

TOWIE star Amy Childs, who was named specifically by Hossack as "part of the problem," hit back at the councillor's "unfair" comments.

"Myself and other young ladies in Essex only want to inspire and instill confidence in any young girls who look up to us,"she told the Brentwood Gazette. "I don't feel that being or wanting to look glamorous makes us irresponsible."

Labour councillor Julie Morrissey said someone in Hossack's position "shouldn't be citing the way women dress as a reason for possible attacks on their person," adding, "You should be able to walk down the street in a bikini or a pair of shorts and feel safe."
