I cannot tell you how often I silently raged about this when I rode the T in Greater Boston years ago. I would debate various responses — take up a lot of space too? But then I’d get weird looks from the guys, like: oooh! we’re touching! is this on purpose? That didn’t feel good. I would try to give in and just squish into the available space, but that pissed me off! I’m so glad someone is voicing this. No, it’s not the biggest issue out there. But it’s another way that men don’t even pay attention to what they are doing, how it impacts women around them.
