Tony Hayward, CEO of BP, has been quoted as saying “I’d like my life back,” in response to the stress he’s been caused by the Gulf oil spill. The statement has come under widespread criticism as insensitive to both the 11 rigworkers killed on Transocean’s oil rig as well as the Gulf ecosystem his company’s disaster has effectively poisoned.  Does it come as any surprise that the CEO of a multi-national company of multi-billion dollar annual profit has trouble connecting with people on the ground, or even the ground itself?
