Gunman Dead After Shooting Two Cops At Minnesota City Hall

Some of the incident was captured on a video camera that was filming the city council meeting in the town of New Hope.

The councilman, John Elder, is a member of the Minneapolis Police Department, according to KARE.

The gunman was shot and killed after he opened fire on a group of police officers leaving the city hall after a swearing-in ceremony, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department told BuzzFeed News.

Two officers were injured by the gunfire but have since been released from the hospital, the department said.
