StacySweaters 10 months agoI was so obsessed with “Seventeen” when I was in middle school and I have to say the message that this magazine sold to our generation and others is absolutely ridiculous. Every weight-loss story I can remember ended with the girl getting a boyfriend and I can’t recall them ever doing Body Positive articles for anyone larger than a small. I don’t “blame” them for generations of girls having issues with their bodies, because ultimately it’s your decision to be the person you are. But I do think it was a bit low rent to advertise their magazine as the Teen Girl’s BFF while they seemed to only promote that “likable” girls were/are tall, white and had long straight hair.
