Regardless of when and where he grew up and how you feel about pot being illegal— the fact remains these were illegal activities. Had he been caught, he would have gone to jail, may not have finished school much less college. I thought we lived in a country where we sustain the law and work to change those laws we feel need changed. Hate to break it to you all but many people grew up in the 70’s without being a druggie. It sounds like he was more than “experimenting”. He was an expert druggie and law evading punk.

“husbands and wives are interdependent with each other. They are equal. They are partners.”
This has been my experience with Mormon marriages yet some try to make people believe Mormon women are somehow repressed or disrespected. Mormon women are among the strongest and most self-assured women I’ve ever met. They define themselves with education, intelligence, grace, strength and femininity. None of those traits are defined by a career alone.

Listened to an interview with Ann Romney a few years ago about her college days with Mitt. They were both going to school and lived in student housing - tiny little place with cement floors. She pieced together a carpet out of scraps from dumpster diving. For a desk they used a wooden door on cinder blocks. I guess they have paid the price to get where they are. They didn’t get help from their parents who would take them to dinner and say - how can you guys live like this? At Harvard, they lived in a basement apartment for $50/mo and had their first child. She is the genuine article! Son, Josh said they had no outside help while he was growing up in an interview last night with Pierce. This lady did not know Ann after the age of 16.

If you’re worried about context, you should try harder to get it right. He said that Ann had been on the campaign trail talking to women about what matters most to them. She was relaying what they had said. End of subject. It was not her opinion so it doesn’t matter what her experiences were. She was representing all the varies women in the country and what matters to THEM! That’s what it means to be Pres. in the US— you actually talk to, listen, and respond to the views of the public. Perfectly appropriate!  You also make the mistake of thinking the Romneys have always been rich living in lavish palaces with a full-time staff. That’s not true at all. Josh Romney was interviewed on Pierce last night and said they never had outside help including nannies. They began their family while still in college living in a basement apartment. Sounds like work to me!
