Considering the actual total cost of a social media campaign, are the benefits really worth it? Like a lot of things, there are a ton of hidden costs. Also like a lot of things, bigger doesn’t always mean better. (Via) Click for larger.
Very cute, but not informative in the least. The Facebook stats may lead a reader to believe that there is an increase in sales, but what is not shown is any behavioral changes in the customer that results in an increase in revenue for the company. A person who is willing to ‘Like’ a company’s Facebook profile is more than likely to be a moderate to strong customer anyway—facebook profile, or not. Also, the companies who are shown in the graphic already have such a strong public image. What needs to be researched are less well-known companies who implement social media strategies, not companies that are already in business 401 textbooks as case studies—those are useless to the average company that may be looking to spend a sizable percentage of their marketing budget.
