Generally referred to as, “You know, that movie with J.Lo? Where they slice up a horse?” They also slowly and excruciatingly pull a man's intestines out via some sort of demonic-looking crank.

2. Clit Snipping, in “Antichrist”
I couldn't find a clip (oh god, no pun intended) of this horrific scene of genital mutilation, so you're just going to have to suffer through the entire movie on Netflix. Willem Dafoe gets his junk out. So. There's that.

3. Knitting Needles, in “Imprint”
Directed by Takashe Miike, Imprint was originally meant to air on Showtime as the thirteenth episode of Masters of Horror. However, due to scenes of this nature, it was shelved and later released on DVD.

4. Shit-Eating Grins, in “Salo”
This scene isn't the most graphic scene in Salo, but it's the only one that required me to hide behind a pillow until it was over. It may have been the hour of rape and torture that preceded it. Or it may have been the fact that they were eating feces. FECES.

5. Skinned Alive, in “Martyrs”
In this 2008 film by Pascal Laugier, you literally get to watch a woman being skinned alive. For someone who hated seventh grade biology as much as I did, this was unnecessary.

6. Amputation, in “Audition”
The last ten minutes of this movie depict Aoyama's slow torture, culminating in an adorable Asian woman sawing his left foot off with a wire. While giggling.

7. Castration, in “I Spit On Your Grave”
On a scale of 1 to 10, with ten being the most rape-y, I Spit On Your Grave is an eleven. Find the original 1978 film on Netflix. You couldn't possibly enjoy Monroe's modern interpretation of dick-cutting without it.

8. Vaginal Blow Torch, in “The Girl Next Door”
Loosely based on the true story of Sylvia Likens, The Girl Next Door chronicles the constant abuse of an orphan at the hands of her aunt and cousins. The grand finale starts with rape and ends with a blowtorch delicately applied to the crotch. Netflix.com. You know you want to.

I'm still convinced that the worst part of this is the buildup.

10. Rape Scene, in “Irreversible”
Eerily realistic, on top of being seven minutes and thirty seconds longer than most rape scenes. Gaspar Noé just curb-stomped my sensibilities.
