Charlie Brown Goes Hip-Hop

Artist Mark Drew’s new exhibition mixes Charlie Brown and the gang with classic ’90s hip hop legends.

Deez Nuts is a new body of work, which began as a zine of the same name by Australian-born, Tokyo-based artist Mark Drew. Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts received a ’90s hip hop makeover. For this exhibition, Drew has painted large-scale versions of the illustrations found within the zine.

The works show Peanuts comics with lyrics from Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, N.W.A, Gang Starr, Public Enemy and more, as dialogue.

Mark Drew is co-founder of China Heights Gallery where the exhibition will be showcased.
